YouTube cooking show "Epic Meal Time" is going to Japan.
The show, which began in Montreal, emphasizes big, high-fat meals with an emphasis on bacon.
The Japanese production entity and management firm Yoshimoto Kogyo is partnering with Next Time Productions, which produces "Epic Meal Time," to produce episodes of "Epic Meal Time Japan" in the Japanese market for domestic and global distribution.
The 100-year-old Yoshimoto Kogyo may be best known to Americans as a shareholder in Nerdist Industries, which recently received one of the YouTube financed premium channels. It is producing at least one of its YouTube shows, "Weird S#!t from Japan," in Japan. Yoshimoto Kogyo will produce.
Yoshimoto Kogyo will also help promote a planned lightsaber relay to San Diego Comic Con International, the "Course of the Force," from Nerdist Industries, Lucasfilm, Machinima and Octagon.
Todd Christopher from The Gersh Agency represented Next Time Productions in the "Epic Meal Time" transaction. Peter Levin, executive advisor to Yoshimoto Kogyo and CEO of Nerdist Industries, represented Yoshimoto Kogyo.
Yoshimoto Kogyo also has a development deal with Next Time Productions to create original concepts and formats domestic Japanese and international markets.
