Three people were injured after falling 30 feet from a Ferris wheel that tipped over at the Rhododendron Festival in Port Townsend, Washington on Thursday. Jillian Kitchener reports.
A 59-year-old woman airlifted to a hospital... another woman and her 7-year-old son treated for non-life-threatening injuries after plunging 30 feet from the ferris wheel at Port Townsend's Rhododendren Festival. The ride malfunctioned Thursday night. Witnesses say it made a grinding sound, a piece of it appeared to fall out... THEN the cart tipped over. (SOUNDBITE) WITNESS KESEM COGGINS, SAYING: "As I walked in here I saw the car start to tip and somebody fall out and hit another car and fall down." Festival organizers say their thoughts and prayers are with the victims. Investigators are trying to determine the exact cause of the accident.
