CAIRO (Reuters) - Some 870 protesters were wounded during anti-government protests in Cairo on Friday, medical sources said, more than doubling their previous estimate.

They said 450 protesters were treated on the streets and not taken to hospital, while 420 others were hospitalized. They earlier said some were seriously injured, including with gunshot wounds.

Some police were also wounded, but it was not immediately clear how many.
