Apr 28 - At least 200 people are dead after devastating storms and tornadoes pounded the southern United States. Jon Decker reports.
Amateur video captures a deadly tornado tearing through Alabama - the state hit hardest by a series of storms that have claimed at least 200 lives throughout the U.S. Southeast. The footage shows a massive mile-wide tornado slamming into the college town of Tuscaloosa -- home to the University of Alabama -- where at least 15 people were killed. President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency for the state and ordered federal aid. Officials in Alabama say the death toll there is likely to rise. In Ringgold, Georgia, the aerial video tells the story. Witnesses say at least one tornado devastated the small rural town, leaving piles of debris where commercial and residential structures once stood. In some neighborhoods, dozens of homes were flattened by the powerful storms. Jon Decker, Reuters.
