Chicago was abuzz Wednesday night as hometown boy Barack Obama attended a fundraiser and party for his 50th birthday. Herbie Hancock, and Jennifer Hudson were on hand and serenaded the president with "Happy Birthday." Obama's homecoming couldn't have been more timely... After several weeks of political wrangling in Washington over a debt deal, Obama joked he always knew his job as president would be a hard one. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: " When I said change we could believe in, I didn't say change we could believe in tomorrow. Not change we could believe in next week. We knew this was going to take time because we've got this big messy tough democracy." Obama, who usually stays at his home in Hyde Park when visiting Chi-town , will return to Washington after the party. Julie Noce, Reuters
