Shots can be heard in the footage, which shows two gunmen firing in the street. The man holding the camera shouted "I will not stop the camera, so people can see you. We are being killed and no one is paying attention." In another neighbourhood, thick smoke is seen rising near buildings. Activists said security forces shot dead 17 people in the country on Tuesday, and rebels killed seven police in an ambush. Another video showed hundreds of people attending a funeral while shouting slogans against President Bashar al-Assad. The U.N. human rights chief put the death toll from nine months of protests, at 5,000 people. Sophia Soo, Reuters.
