He won what is considered to be the country's second most important political position, the Mayor of Bogota. Around 5000 people turned up to watch the ceremony in Plaza Bolivar. He won the October elections saying security, climate and education would be the first things his team would tackle. Among his campaign promises, the former M-19 rebel also said he would work towards freeing the city of weapons. Marie-Claire Fennessy, Reuters.
