Feb 27 - Douglas Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy, is charged over a confrontation with nurses over his newborn baby. Paul Chapman reports.
PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL Douglas Kennedy, son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, is caught on camera carrying his two-day old baby out of hospital. But he's been charged with harassment and endangering his son's welfare after a row with two nurses who tried to stop him. Kennedy's lawyer says he wanted to take his son outside for some fresh air and the nurses were at fault. SOUNDBITE: Robert Gottlieb, Kennedy's lawyer, saying (English): "Mr Kennedy was acting very quietly, politely, calmly. The only reason why anything happened here was because of the misconduct of two nurses." A lawyer for the nurses involved sees it differently. SOUNDBITE: Elliot H. Taub, nurses lawyer, saying (English): "They called what's called a Code Pink. That is, it looks like there's someone trying to abscond from the hospital with a newborn. When it escalate they hit what's called a Code Purple which means there's someone who is a danger to the hospital."
