April 11 - Business is booming for BMW, the car giant has just announced record sales that sees them top of the leader board. Sarah Mills reports.
BMW has announced record sales for the first quarter of the year. In the last three months the German car maker has sold over 400,000 vehicles - a rise of 11.2 percent on last year. Business is booming, BMW says, thanks to their attractive range of premium vehicles and balanced growth across the globe. China has overtaken the United States as the group's largest single market - in the first quarter it bought around 80,000 vehicles. The company now hopes to grow faster than the market and break more sales records. But while it's currently top of the leader board, it faces stiff competition from rival brands. Volkswagen's Audi came in a close second place, with Mercedes-Benz third. Sarah Mills, Reuters
