July 27 - The singer performs a last-minute concert at Paris' Olympia theater. Alicia Powell reports.
Madonna 'vogues' her way into Paris. The veteran pop-star treated Parisian fans to an intimate show at the city's famed Olympia theater. Anticipation for the last minute show was high, with tickets selling out in mere minutes. And in true Madonna fashion the performance had both a rebellious and political tone. SOUNDBITE: Madonna, singer, saying, (English): "We are entering so very scary times in our world. Economic markets are collapsing, people have nothing to eat in Greece, people all over the world are suffering and people are afraid. And what happens when people are afraid? What happens people are afraid? They become intolerant. They start pointing the finger at other people. They say 'you're the reason, you're the problem, you're to blame.' They say 'get out,' okay." For those not lucky enough to watch the concert in person, the show was streamed live on YouTube. Madonna will perform another French concert in Nice on August 21. Alicia Powell, Reuters.
