Aug. 20 - Thousands gather in Yemen in a show of solidarity on the Muslim holy day Eid. Julie Noce reports.
Demonstrators gathered by the thousands in Yemen on the Muslim holy Eid to remember those who sacrificed their lives during the Arab spring uprising. Although former president Ali Abdullah Saleh was ousted during the revolution, protestors say they want the families of those killed in the revolution to be compensated for their loss. They are also calling for an overhaul of the country's military. Since the revolution, the country's government has been vulnerable to attacks from militants. Last week a suspected al Qaeda-linked group killed at least 14 Yemeni soldiers and security guards during an attack on an intelligence bureau. The U.S. has been pouring aid into Yemen to stem the threat of attacks and to try to prevent any spillover of violence into neighbouring Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter.
