Smoke rises from what is said to be the headquarters of Regiment 46 on the outskirts of Aleppo, Syria. Rebel fighters trying to oust President Bashar al-Assad are attacking it with mortar rounds - activist video purports to show. This fighter jet is said to have been sent to help government forces during the attack on Saturday. As with much amateur video here, Reuters can't independently verify its contents, because of media restrictions. However a growing picture of reports show the opposition trying to blast back against Assad's air power. Here, video purports to show rebel fighters in Idlib unleashing missiles at army helicopters. During Saturday, a jet fighter here in this region was downed, an independent journalist on the scene said. In Aleppo, the Syrian government has not given up its battle to quash resistance - this Syrian TV footage show government forces operating in the city According to the broadcaster, the army destroyed a warehouse for ammunition and weapons and killed those inside. Activists say more than 27,000 people, mostly civilians have been killed, since the increasingly bloody revolt began 18 months ago.
