Oct. 27 - Opposition activists say government forces bombarded Damascus and residential sections of Aleppo, ignoring a ceasefire intended to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. Deborah Gembara reports.
Day two of the ceasefire wasn't any more promising. There were explosions across Damascus according to this latest video posted to a social media website. One opposition activist told Reuters he counted 15 explosions in one hour. Two civilians were killed. Reuters cannot independently verfiy reports that government forces have stepped up attacks in the capital and major cities including Aleppo where rebels claim President Bashar al Assad's forces are firing into residential areas. Other video shows explosions in the easter city of Deir Al Zoir. The truce proposed by international peace envoy Lakhdar Barahimi is the latest effort to end the 19 month conflict in Syria.
