Dec. 7 - Fighters say President Bashar al-Assad's forces have intensified attacks on rebel outposts in and around Damascus. Deborah Gembara reports.
Everywhere in and around Damascus, evidence of war. Blown out streets after a car bomb tore through this district in Darayya. And smoke rising from the skyline in there after air strikes. These videos posted to a social media website cannot be independently verified by Reuters. Opposition activists say President Bashar al Assad's forces have been firing into neighborhoods throughout the area and that their efforts to shut down rebel activity near the capital have intensified. The military says it is making important gains throughout the country but video posted by rebels in Homs suggests otherwise. Free syrian army fighters can be seen riding on a captured tank and walking through what they say are captured barracks.
