Mar. 18 - A suicide bomber kills at least 10 people in Somalia's capital Mogadishu in a blast that appeared to target senior government officials, police said. Travis Brecher reports.
A car bomb exploded here near the presidential palace in Somalia's capital Mogadishu on Monday. Police said at least 10 people were killed in the blast, which appeared to have targeted senior government officials. The suicide attacker detonated explosives while driving along a boulevard that runs between the palace and the national theatre. Security in Mogadishu has greatly improved since a military offensive drove Islamist rebels out of the city in August 2011. But bombings and assassinations remain a regular occurrence. It wasn't immediately clear who was behind Monday's attack.
