March 26 - Waxwork of actress and model Emma Watson unveiled as the latest figure at Madame Tussauds. Lois Jeary reports
British starlet Emma Watson has been unveiled as the latest figure at London's world famous waxwork museum Madame Tussauds. Fans will be able to get up-close-and-personal with the 22-year-old, who shot to fame playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. According to Madame Tussauds PR Manager Nicole Fenner, visitors to the museum have been requesting a figure of the actress and model for some time, and she promises to be a popular addition to the museum's A-List gallery. "We have lots and lots of Hollywood A-Listers here at Madame Tussauds and I think she brings a touch of British class to our line-up". Sculptor Alex Carlisle, who spent a total of four months working on the waxwork, has become rather enamoured with his subject. SOUNDBITE (English): Alex Carlisle, Senior Sculptor at Madame Tussauds: "I think her eyes are lovely and she's got a real knowing look. She's not quite as attractive as my wife, but I think she's gorgeous, yeah." Reclining on a sofa against a glittering background, the figure is dressed in a backless, dark blue cocktail dress made exclusively for the exhibition by designer Elie Saab. SOUNDBITE (English) Nicole Fenner, PR Manager at Madame Tussauds: "We went through a long process in terms of deciding what dress we were going to put Emma Watson in, and we settled on this Elie Saab creation which is absolutely stunning and she wore on the red carpet a couple of years ago. So we're delighted to have been able to work with Elie Saab and the team there to make a replica dress that our figure wears." As her film career goes from strength to strength, the star's busy schedule prevented her from being able to sit for the sculpture. Instead the team based the likeness on studies of photographs and films. But if the 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' actress should ever wish to visit her glamorous double, Madame Tussauds say she would be more than welcome.
