Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko and Rachel McAdams attend red carpet premiere for their film, Terrence Malick's ''To The Wonder.'' Eileen Hsieh reports.
Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko graced the red carpet on Tuesday at the premiere of their new romantic drama "To The Wonder". Written and directed by Terrence Malick, the filmmaker behind "The Tree of Life", "To the Wonder" examines how men and women struggle with love and its many phases. Oscar-winning director and actor Ben Affleck, who plays an American who falls in love with a woman while travelling in Europe, finds Malick's directing technique refreshing. SOUNDBITE: Actor Ben Affleck, saying (English): "This movie was very interesting and a really different way of working for me. It's an experimental film, an art film and a movie where I came in to do it, the idea of being a silent centre of a movie was very unusual and very frustrating. The way that I express myself is verbally, when I could not do that it was like banging my head against the wall. But, it was a really good exercise for me as an actor and it was definitely good for me as a director to learn from Malick, to watch what he did and to openly steal from him as much as I could." Rachel McAdams, who plays Affleck's old flame in the movie, says the director is a connoisseur for all things beautiful. SOUNDBITE: Actress Rachel McAdams, saying (English): "He is just a poet and he sees beauty in everything and so you kind of walk through the world in that way seeing opportunity that you might of passed by before. You know, just kind of languishing in the field. You wouldn't normally do that everyday." "To the Wonder" opens in selected theatres on April 12.
