April 23 - Amateur video shows rebels fighting what they say are Hezbollah forces along the border with Lebanon. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Rebel forces launch what appears to be a homemade rocket as they target government forces in western Syria, along the border with Lebanon. It's not just the government in the fight. Rebels saying they are checking an advance by Hezbollah as the battle rages for control of the country. The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as Hezbollah denies it has sent guerrillas to fight alongside government forces inside Syria. Further south in the suburbs of Damascus a government tank opens fire. The conflict is leaving a legacy of destruction in a country ripped apart. Rebel forces with their own tank show no signs of giving up the fight where no side has the upper hand after more than two years of conflict that has already killed more than 70,000 people.
