May 24 - More buildings damaged outside Stockholm as riots continue for another night. Julie Noce reports.
More broken windows and shattered glass in the suburbs of Stockholm Sweden overnight. Officials say fires were started at two schools, and at least five cars were burned. Young people have been rioting since Sunday night in working class neighbourhoods with mostly immigrant populations. The riots appear to have been sparked by the police killing of a 69-year-old man earlier this month, which prompted accusations of police brutality. Although living standards in Sweden are amongst the highest in Europe, seven years of conservative rule has seen a reduction in state benefits. Swedish society has become more segregated, with a large numbers of immigrants living in areas where unemployment is dramatically higher than elsewhere.
