July 25- DOGTV, a channel designed for dogs will launch nationally next month, aiming to appeal to the 46 million U.S. households that have at least one dog. Bobbi Rebell reports.
The Daily Digit is 46 million- as in the 46 million US households that have at least one dog. That's the size of the target audience for DOGTV. A TV channel hoping to make a canine connection when it launches next month on DirecTV. What do owners get for their prized pets if they bark up $4.99 a month? DOGTV will feature programs with music, visuals, animation and the occasional human- designed to relax, stimulate, and ease the loneliness of pets left home alone. Not to mention the guilt of the owner. Programs were developed with a veterinary behaviorist, dog trainers and animal rights activists- and even tested on focus groups! The images are meant to be compatible with a dog's vision, and sounds include a range of frequencies tailored to their sense of hearing. Now if only it came with a dog walking service.
