Aug. 2 - Actor George Clooney gave his two cents on Dan Loeb's involvement with Sony in an interview with Deadline Hollywood. Havovi Cooper reports.
George Clooney 'directing' his latest diatribe at Dan Loeb. Speaking to Deadline Hollywood, Clooney got on his high horse and trampled the hedge fund manager. According to Clooney, Loeb's meddling in the 'business' of showbusiness-- something he knows nothing about. Loeb has been pressuring Sony to spin off its entertainment arm, saying its summer films have 'bombed spectacularly'. Clooney says it's unfair of Loeb to cherry pick a season. The movie industry ebbs and flows. In the hedge fund business, Clooney says there is 'no conscience at work'. To quote Clooney "Loeb calls himself an activist investor and I would call him a carpet bagger and one who is trying to spread a climate of fear." Wonder who Kazuo Hirai's going to listen to--an opinionated Oscar winning actor or the guy who already owns 7 percent of the company.
