A large United Parcel Service cargo plane crashed and exploded into flames as it approached the Birmingham, Alabama airport on Wednesday morning. Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed. UPS flight 1354 was heading from Louisville, Kentucky to Birmingham, Alabama. The plane was an Airbus A300- a widebody jet widely used as a freighter by UPS, FedEx and others- that has been involved in about 10 crashes. UPS stock was down slightly on Wednesday. It was the latest in a series of aviation accidents in the U.S. this year.
