Indonesia is number one in the world when it comes to this.... and advertisers are wasting no time taking advantage of it. Tweeting has become a bit of a national past time here where 50% of the country's population is under 30 years old. In Jakarta alone, there are more people with Twitter accounts than any other city in the world. With companies well ensconced into the world of marketing through social media, It should come as no surprise then that now companies paying big bucks for users to tweet about their products. Here's how it works: companies pay people, nicknamed 'buzzers', about $21 dollars per tweet to spread the word about their product. Companies like Nestle use social media for more than a dozen brands and about 15 percent of its ad dollars are spent on digital media. The trick is translating all this data into sales. (SOUNDBITE) (English) HEAD OF COFFEE BUSINESS OF NESTLE INDONESIA, PATRICK STILLHART SAYING: "We do have measurements, quantitative measurement, which is the number of followers, the number of fans, the number of likes and the number of clicks, you know. Qualitative measurements we use cloud score, which today we have seventy-seven which today is not so bad. But how do we relate that to brands and sales? I think that is a little bit the question mark." For now companies in the archipelago will continue paying buzzers to pollenate the public with their ad messages.
