Sept. 26 - A giant 3D painting in front of the United Nations headquarters calls on United States President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold peace talks on Syria. Elly Park reports.
U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin having coffee over the map of Syria, while Syrian refugees look on. This artwork was on display just blocks from the United Nations headquarters where numerous world leaders are attending the General Assembly Debate and it's a plea for Obama and Putin to hold peace talks on war-torn Syria. The giant 3D piece is by renowned Spanish street artist Eduardo Relero, who says his image mirrors the situation in Syria. SOUNDBITE: Eduardo Relero, Artist, Saying (Spanish) "We're looking at an image that is an optical illusion called 'anamorphosis.' It is a scene that symbolizes part of this gathering that we have today on this square. It's similar to the refugees in the camps in Syria." An anamorphosis is a distorted image that requires a viewer to take a specific vantage point to see it correctly. It allows for people sitting on the sidelines to become part of it, representing the world looking at the refugees and the two leaders. And with over 2 million Syrians already displaced from their homes, Relero says time is running out for pondering.
