At least eight Syrian security personnel died in this car bomb attack on a military intelligence headquarters in the south.
The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said an army major was among those killed.
It said dozens more were wounded in the blast in Suweida which has been largely spared the violence of civil war.
Syria's SANA state news agency said 41 people were wounded but made no mention of the target.
It attributed the bomb to terrorists, a term it often uses to describe the rebels fighting to topple President Bashar al-Assad.
Earlier the same day an improvised bomb in Damascus claimed eight lives and wounded at least 50.
