Nov. 17 - Amateur video shows Typhoon Haiyan ripping through the Philippines, as the International community continues to pray for the victims. Jillian Kitchener reports.
New video captures the terrifying moments as Typhoon Haiyan rips through Eastern Samar in the Philippines. This house is no match for the powerful storm surge. It isn't long before the surrounding area is completely flooded. Aid worker Nickson Gensis shot this video as he along with five others, took refuge in the top floor of a boarding house. He filmed while the others prayed. Nine days later, the International Community continues to pray for the victims. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SINGER AND FRANCISCAN CHAPEL CENTER CHOIR MEMBER VILMA CRUZ SAYING: (In Japan) "You know it's just like us gathering together in the house of God and we pray for all those people, the victims and we pray for all of us also the people who are helping us and we really thank them and this is really important." Philippine President Benigno Aquino visited the typhoon-hit area of Eastern Samar. (SOUNDBITE) (Filipino) PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT, BENIGNO AQUINO, SAYING: "When it comes to natural disasters, all we can do is pray, but it is also important to do all that we can." Aid continues to be distributed in the Philippines, where at least 3,971 people died, and over 1100 are missing.
