Nov. 18 - Apple will soon install sensors at its stores to boost sales and improve service, according to 9to5mac. Fred Katayama reports.
Apple will soon begin watching you. It will install sensors at many of its stores in the next few days to boost sales and service, according to the news site 9to5mac. Apple's iBeacon feature in its iOS7 allows transmitters in a store to wirelessly connect to iPhones and iPads and report where they are. For example, Apple could use it to alert a customer viewing a product with info about its price and features or an upcoming workshop session about how to use it. And the technology could notify you that your repair item is ready for pickup if you happen to walk by the Apple store. If this is all too Big Brotherish for you or you just want to shop in peace, relax. You can choose not to be alerted.
