Dec. 24 - Hurricane-force winds and torrential rains cause major flooding in England and France, disrupting travel on Christmas Eve. Nathan Frandino reports.
Torrential rains leave residents and travelers stranded in western Europe on Christmas Eve. A winter storm sent floodwaters rushing through the streets of France. Hurricane-force winds brought down trees, taking out power lines and blocking roads. This delivery driver in the southern English county of Hampshire didn't let the weather stop him. He and other stranded drivers helped clear a rain-swept road blocked by a fallen tree. The country's second busiest airport, Gatwick, reported that one terminal had been hit by a major power outage. Britain's Environmental Agency said flooding was expected to affect much of the country with 250 flood alerts, 80 flood warnings and one severe flood warning in place. Further wet and storm weather could hit Britain's shores later this week.
