May 01 - The day's top showbiz news and headlines including Chris Brown is ordered to remain behind bars, Heroin was ''likely'' to have played a role in the death of Peaches Geldof, and Miley Cyrus postpones more shows. Bob Mezan reports.
Chris Brown will remain behind bars for at least another week. The singer was in a Los Angeles court on Thursday (May 01) and was ordered to remain in jail without bail. Brown is accused of violating his probation stemming from his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna. A judge ordered him back to court on May 9, when a date is expected to be set for a probation-violation hearing. The decision means that Brown will spend his 25th birthday in jail on May 05. Heroin was "likely" to have played a role in the death of Peaches Geldof. A post-mortem examination failed to establish the cause of her death, but an inquest was told on Thursday that a toxicology report found heroin in the 25-year-old's system. The daughter of Irish musician Bob Geldof, Peaches died at her home on April 7. A full inquest will take place on July 23. Mariah Carey has unveiled the title of her new album and it's called, "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse." The album will be Carey's 14th studio album and will be released on May 27. Carey said the title and the accompanying song is meant to be a visualization of herself with "the purity of a child's heart before it was ever broken." Miley Cyrus is sick again. The illness that derailed her U.S. tour last month has returned, forcing her to postpone the launch of her European tour. Cyrus rescheduled shows in Amsterdam and Antwerp, which were set for this weekend, because she suffered a setback in her battle against an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. Cyrus is next scheduled to perform in London on May 06.
