ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: French President Francois Hollande began his two-day visit to German Chancellor Angela Merkel's constituency with a boat ride on the Baltic Sea on Friday. After Hollande's arrival in the town of Sassnitz on the island of Ruegen, the two leaders boarded a boat which took them to the port of Binz, some 10 kilometers further south. The island of Ruegen, in Germany's former east and close to the border with Poland, is a popular holiday resort with Germans; with chalk cliffs as its landmark. After they arrived in the seaside resort of Binz, the German and French leaders posed for cameras on the pier, holding umbrellas against the pouring rain. On Saturday, Merkel and Hollande are scheduled to go on a walkabout in the town of Stralsund on the mainland as weather forecasts predicted more rain.
