ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Vice President Joe Biden celebrated Labor Day in Detroit on Monday (September 1) with a speech praising the achievements of unions throughout history. "Sometimes the press asks me, 'why don't you talk about workers?' Well I tell you what. I talk about unions because you're the reason why every other American work has the basic rights they have. It's because of unions," Biden said. In his speech, he credited unions for building the middle class, which he said needed protection more than ever.
