NASA captures video of a significant flare surging off the sun. Jillian Kitchener reports.
Stunning imagery from NASA... On September 10th, the sun emitted a significant solar flare, which are powerful bursts of radiation. These bursts stop short of passing through the Earth's atmosphere, and cannot harm humans on the ground. But if these flares are intense enough, they can disturb the atmosphere in the layer where GPS and communications signals travel.
