The boy band and newcomer Ariana Grande take home trophies at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow. Alicia Powell reports.
Boy-band One Direction were the big winners at the MTV Europe Music Awards. The British pop group took home Best Pop, Best Live and Biggest Fans prizes at the show. While rapper Nicki Minaj, who hosted the ceremony, picked up the award for Best Hip Hop song. Newcomer Ariana Grande beat Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Minaj to win Best Female and her single "Problem" won best song. Rock veteran Ozzy Osborne collected a Global Icon award and Irish rock U2 performed "Every Breaking Wave". This was the twentieth anniversary of the awards.
