The first official United States delegation since the normalization of relations between Cuba and the U. S. arrive in Havana to express interest in the days to come. Gavino Garay reports.
It's another step toward the restoration of diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Cuba as members of Congress arrive in the island nation. The delegates, made up of six Democrats, are here to meet with government officials. Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy stopped short of calling the warming relations between the former foes historic. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PATRICK LEAHY, U.S. SENATOR (DEMOCRAT-VERMONT) SAYING: "I just think that we've just seen a remarkable change in relations between our countries." The lawmakers are expected to discuss normalizing relations and to work on building a "constructive relationship." They will return to the U.S. Monday.
