Maduro supporters gather to protest upcoming opposition gathering. Julie Noce reports.
Supporters of President Nicolas Maduro marched through the streets of Caracas Friday in protest of an upcoming gathering of former Latin American leaders planned for this weekend. Mexican Felipe Calderon, Chilean Sebastian Pinera and Colombian Andres Pastrana are expected to attend a forum organized by the Venezuelan opposition. Maduro warned that the gathering of former leaders could result in a coup. They can enter Venezuela, he said, but they come to support a right-wing group who is calling for a bloody coup d'etat. The opposition group plans to hold their own march to protest the country's high inflation on Saturday. A shortage of commodities in Venezuela has forced many residents to stand in long lines for items like toilet paper and washing detergent.
