(natsot) The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning during Port-au-Prince's annual carnival. Witnesses say a hip-hop band was playing aboard the float when it hit the cable. At least 18 people were killed and dozens more reported injured. Many were trampled in the panic that followed the accident. President Michel Martelly has expressed his deepest sympathies to the victims.
