Destiny was named as best game at the 2015 BAFTA video game awards on Thursday night.
For some in the audience, Destiny's win was something of a surprise -- it had attracted mixed reviews and divides gamers.
Accepting the top prize, the developer Bungie's president thanked the game's players.

Several other of the bigger budget nominees walked away without a prize, but independent games such as Minecraft and Monument Valley triumphed.
The Last of Us: Left Behind won the Story and Performance categories.
Best game design went to Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
