Videos posted on a social media website appear to show bombings in the suburbs of Damascus, but in Aleppo, protesters remain defiant in their quest four years on. Gavino Garay reports.
**EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: RESENDING SCRIPT TO REFLECT CORRECTION IN FIRST SENTENCE** After four years of civil war, bombs are still dropping on Damascus. In this video, which Reuters cannot independently verify, government forces hit two residential towns with air strikes, reducing buildings into rubble. Heavy missile attacks also hit this Jobar suburb. The conflict in Syria has become fragmented into opposing rebel factions, including Islamic States militants targeted by a U.S. led coalition. More amateur video shows Kurdish forces firing on these Islamic State fighters in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasaka. The conflict in Syria began with peaceful protests against President Bashar al-Assad in March 2011. And that march has not yet ended for those here in Aleppo, where an opposition group defiantly waves their flags.. seeking to topple Bashar al-Assad four years on.
