President Barack Obama welcomes Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to the White House amid questions surrounding the drawdown of U.S. forces from Afghanistan. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. President Barack Obama welcomed Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to the White House on Tuesday (March 24). Ghani is in Washington for several days as he hopes to drive home the case for slowing the withdrawal of American forces from his country. Last year, record numbers of Afghan security forces and civilians died in the fight against the Taliban. Before leaving for Washington, Ghani also voiced concern about the rise in Afghanistan of Islamic State, which seized huge swaths of Iraq after the U.S. withdrawal there. Ghani is also slated to address Congress on Wednesday.
