U.S. President Barack Obama will eulogize mass shooting victim Reverend Clementa Pinckney at his funeral Friday, the day after thousands turned out for his wake. Vanessa Johnston reports.
They lined up around the block to say goodbye to the Reverend Clementa Pinckney. The state senator and pastor at Charleston's Emanuel AME Church was shot to death during Bible study last week -- along with eight other people. Twenty-one year-old Dylann Roof has been charged in the killings. Pinckney leaves behind thousands of friends and admirers.. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ASSOCIATE MINISTER AT MORRIS BROWN AME CHURCH, REV. RICKEY DENNIS SAYING: "I knew him as a very mild mannered, a very conscientious person committed to his ministry." (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHILDHOOD FRIEND OF PINCKNEY, SHANNAN OSGOOD, SAYING: "He was well respected, well known. He was a great person." Today, mourners will pay their respects one last time at Pinckney's funeral....where President Obama is set to deliver the eulogy. Accompanying the president to Charleston will be First Lady Michele Obama and Vice President Joe Biden -- All of whom knew Pinckney personally.
