ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: German Chancellor Angela Merkel was welcomed in Albania on Wednesday (July 8) by Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana as the first stop of her two-day tour in the Balkans. Albania and Germany signed new financial agreements on Monday (July 6) and Albania's ruling Socialists see it as an opportunity for further development of the country in sectors such as energy, water supply, support for farmers and small enterprises. It is the second visit of a German chancellor to Albania, after the visit of Gerhard Schroeder in 1999. Merkel is scheduled to visit Serbia later on Wednesday before heading to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
