Palestinian youth shot by Israeli forces during clash dies, triggering further violence in tense West Bank. Sean Carberry reports.
STORY: It's one of the most tense periods in the Palestinian territories in recent months. Clashes flared near the West Bank city of Ramallah after the funeral of a Palestinian youth who was shot the day before by Israeli forces. The military says soldiers fired on the boy after he threw a fire bomb at them. The shooting of the youth came hours after an 18-month old Palestinian boy was killed in a house fire in the West Bank. It's thought to have been lit by suspected Jewish assailants. The boy's parents and a sibling suffered critical injuries in the fire. In the Gaza Strip on the same day, Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian teenager near the border fence in the northern part of the coastal territory, according to Palestinian medical officials. Friday's arson attack drew anger and widespread condemnation from the Palestinian and Israeli leaders, who denounced it as an act of terror. The United Nations, United States, European Union and other countries also denounced the attack and called for calm.
