U.S. President Barack Obama lets entrepreneurs demonstrate their innovations, and unveils programs to encourage more diversity among start ups. Rough Cut (No reporter narration)
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The President celebrated his birthday on Tuesday (August 4) by hosting a Demo Day for founders of technology start-ups and innovators from across the country. In the private sector, Demo Days offer innovators a chance to pitch their ideas to investors, but in this case the President said the entrepreneurs just had to explain their ideas to him. The event focused on women and minorities, groups the President said are often underrepresented in the world of entrepreneurship and technology. Dozens of startup teams of women and minorities attended and some showed off their innovations to the President personally. He also announced a series of private sector initiatives aimed at increasing diversity.
