Turkish coast guard teams rescue Syrian migrants after their boats sink off the Turkish Coast. Sean Carberry reports.
STORY: The Turkish Coast Guard carries out yet another night time mission to rescue Syrian migrants. This week, they pulled 89 people out of the water in three separate incidents when migrant boats sank off the Turkish coast. As the Syrian civil war rages on, thousands of refugees continue to stream through Turkey in a desperate attempt to gain asylum in Europe. Many cram into unsafe, overloaded boats under cover of darkness and hope to reach Greek islands like Kos. But, thousands end up getting pulled from the water by the Turkish Coast Guard. Ankara has spent $6 billion caring for refugees since the Syrian civil war began. Neither the war nor the migrant crisis shows any signs of letting up anytime soon.
