Police in the town of Mingachevir clash with protesters who are angry over the death of a man held in police custody. Pavithra George reports.
These protesters in the town of Mingachevir want the local police chief to step down. They gathered here after the funeral of a 27-year old man who was detained by police on August 20th and died while in police custody. Police claim the man jumped out of a window when he was being interrogated, but his father told Radio Free Europe that his son was beaten to death, because he had multiple bruises on his body, and then thrown out of the window. The protest grew tense as police in riot gear clashed with hundreds of angry young men - some of whom were later taken away by police.
