The GOP presidential candidate says logistics of deporting undocumented immigrants in the U.S. is so difficult the country should focus instead on sealing its borders. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said on Sunday (September 13) that the logistics for rounding up some of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States for deportation would be too difficult. Instead, the retired pediatric neurosurgeon said the country needs to focus on sealing the border, an action that he says would be done within the first year of a Carson administration. "Until we seal our borders, everything else is irrelevant," Carson told "Face the Nation" on CBS. A Quinnipiac University poll released on Friday showed Carson second only to Donald Trump in garnering favor from likely Republican voters in the Iowa caucus. The survey put support for Trump at 27 percent, followed by Carson at 21 percent.
