Pope Francis receives a thunderous applause and a standing ovation after making a reference to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" at the beginning of his speech to a special joint session of the U.S. congress.
The Pope met privately with President Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday, called the Democratic president's efforts against air pollution "encouraging," and said climate change is a problem the world can no longer leave to future generations to address.
The pontiff is expected to travel to New York later Thursday.
