On Thursday, he was greeting the Pope..but now he says he's had enough. John Boehner, Speaker of the House, is resigning his position as Speaker and his seat in Congress, effective October the 30th. A Boehner aid is quoted as saying "The Speaker believes putting members through prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable damage to the institution. For the good of the Republican conference and the institution, he will resign the Speakership and his seat in Congress." U.S. House majority leader Kevin McCarthy is tipped as the top contender to take over as Speaker.
