PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3 The speedboat carrying Maldives President Abdulla Yameen and his entourage was just two metres from its jetty when an explosion ripped through the vessel. Yameen was unharmed. His wife, a bodyguard and a presidential aide were hurt. They've been taken to hospital following the blast as the boat arrived from the airport. It wasn't immediately clear what caused the explosion as Yameen and his wife were returning from the Haj pilgrimage. Yameen's a controversial figure both at home and abroad. He came to power in a bitterly contested election two years ago. Mohamed Nasheed, the leader he defeated, was jailed earlier this year accused of terrorism in a case that's unleashed international criticism.
