ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Celebrated Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club performed at the White House on Thursday (October 15) to mark the last day of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The performance comes in the wake of the ongoing normalization of ties between the former Cold War foes. After the performance, President Obama thanked the band and welcomed a group of Hispanic youth to the White House to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. National Hispanic Heritage Month began September 15 and ran until October 15.
